A good time was had by all at yesterday's War on the Shore Alumni football game vs. Bishop. Believe it or not, 6200 people were in attendance as Bishop squeaked out a 10-9 victory over our alma mater. More to the point, that many people watched and listened as the good ol' Warrior Band and Alumni Band took the field at halftime.I think that's the largest crowd the Warrior (Alumni) Band has played for - at least with your humble webmaster among the trombones - in over 30 years. I'm thinking about USC Band Day, which would have been mid-1970s. That was a huge crowd, and several large bands. I'm not sure of the year, but I remember Lalo Schifrin conducted, and the Trojan band did their Fleetwood Mac "Tusk" thing, which was cool.
I don't know how we sounded yesterday from where Langdon was standing, but I thought we sounded alright. But I wonder if anyone else among the ancient venerable band geeks found him or herself on the field, suddenly trying to read the music at lyre- distance, and realizing he or she was wearing the wrong glasses for anything that close. Dang.
Jim Parker and I took some photos. If you have any you'd like to share, please e-mail them to me and I'll add them.

Here's a little video.
