Party at Julie’s House!

This year, instead of going to The Palms after the game, Julie Hathaway has invited all of us to her house for the after party.

Julie and Dean live at

5462 El Carro Lane

Julie’s phone, 805.886-9143.

My parents live on the same street, so I’m thinking we should leave our instruments in our cars. Speaking of cars, there should be tons of free parking on Casitas Pass Road, which is very close.

2010 Reunion Information

The 2010 Warrior Band and Drill Team Reunion and Halftime Show will be Friday, September 10th at Carpinteria High School Memorial Stadium.

This season will mark more than 10 years for the annual alumni half-time show and fundraiser. Even if you haven't picked up an instrument in years, we still want you to come and have fun and support the high school’s Warrior Band. If you can drag the thing from the closet or the garage and produce some sort of sound, that's even better. But not required. You'll be surprised how it will come back to you. It’s just like falling off a bike.

There will be two music rehearsals in the CHS Band Room:

• Thursday, Sept 2, 7:00pm to 8:00pm

• Thursday, Sept 9, 7:00pm to 8:00pm

We will meet at about 3:30 in the afternoon of Friday Sept 10 to run through the marching part of the halftime show, before the game. That practice will be followed by pizza for all, at the band room. Game time is generally 7:00pm and it has become a tradition to “hit The Palms” after the game.

The songs haven't been chosen yet, so keep an eye on this website or Facebook for further info. If you need copies of tunes from previous years, use the Download Music link in the right column on this website. Or click here to send an email.

Hope to see you at the show!

Facebook for Band Geeks

Last September, after the reunion, the suggestion was made that we get the Alumni Band and Drill Team on Facebook (FB). The point was made that there are alumni on FB who don't know about this blog, and we want to contact them.

I set up 2 things for us there, which I think was a mistake. I should have done just 1.

I made this Facebook Group.

I also made a Facebook Page.

The difference between a Group and a Page had me confused. But I think what we actually wanted was a Group. It's more of a feature to send out announcements to a group of people, less of a web site that they come and look at. We already have this blog as our Web site. What we wanted to do was get the message out to alumni on FB about upcoming events.

So as we march into a new year, I'm suggesting we focus on using the group to share announcements, and continue using this blog. The FB Page is redundant, right?

Discussions and Photos

The Group site has a Discussions function which is cool, and a Photos function too.

But it's not necessary to use the Group thing I set up to have discussions with other alumni. As long as they are FB Friends, they can see what you post on your wall. And you can post on their wall, and send them private messages through FB.

Please make sure you've joined up.

If you are on Facebook, please go to the Facebook Group. There should be a link to Join This Group.

I'm going to work on developing e-mail subscription function for this blog, so that people who are not on FB can subscribe to this blog by e-mail. That way, they'll get announcements automatically. No more YahooGroups, is my point.
